About Me

My Story
My name is Amanda Levina Gracia and I am a Mom of one son and two dogs. After pausing for a year I finally find myself again in this illustration world.

Growing up in a Chinese-descendant household, academic success was everything. My parents never really encouraged my interest in drawing—instead, they often said they wished I would spend that time studying. Because of that, I grew up feeling insecure about my work and too afraid to attach my name to it. That’s why I created the pen name Mandtaps—a quiet space where I could draw without judgment.
Over the years, through projects and the people I’ve met who believed in my work, I’ve slowly healed that part of myself. After five years of experience, I’m finally ready to embrace my identity as an illustrator and designer—not just as a hobby, but as my profession.
My Creative Stands
I’m an illustrator and graphic designer with a deep love for brush strokes—especially brushwork using gouache and watercolor. My specialty lies in creating simple yet expressive drawings, using brush line. For me I find something calming and honest about how a brush moves on paper—the rhythm, the control, and the imperfections that make each piece feel alive.
Now, with over five years of experience in the industry, I’ve found that my true passion lies in branding and packaging design, as well as people-focused illustrations—especially for gifts, baby hampers, and invitations.
Background &
Inspirations
I studied Graphic Design in Jakarta and began my career as a freelance designer and photographer. My journey into illustration began during my time living in the UK, and I’ve been deeply inspired by many UK and European artists ever since.
Some of the illustrators who have shaped my style and thinking include Jean Jullien, Gianluca Cannizzo, Amber Davenport, and Nina Cosford. I also love learning from others and often take classes from artists I admire, such as Dear Elaine Co, Kathrin Honesta, and Sarah Van Dongen. I love their teaching method! It is really easy to understand and clear. Lately I've been into Jessie Hartland and Anete Melece too! I saw their picture book and I am loving it. I make daily journal with my drawing and art and it help me grow and grow to find more about me.

For me, illustration is a never-ending process of growing, observing, and finding new ways to express ideas. It is not only visual, but also emotional and intentional.
Let’s Work Together
I'm excited to work with people and brands who believe that design is not only visual, it is also emotional and intentional. I can’t wait to see where this path leads next.
